Unresolved by resetting and erasing all iPhone data or by reinstalling iTunes. No other online advice available. After a long hold for support…. There may be a simple soluition… But I do not know much about IT.
I have been waiting over an hour for it to finish writing files done this twice and happened both times. Anyone know what the problem could be??? Tried to upgrade to iOS 5. First time it failed and told me to reset which loses all the apps, music, etc. I am now trying to get apps and music restored and iTunes It has been at this state for 4 hours now.
Any recommendations as to how to get the apps, music, books, etc restored. I am so leary to upgrade my iPad after this experience. I do love the Apple products but this is frustrating. Never known anything like it. Apple get your act together. Bring back Steve Job! People running Windows XP in particular are having problems with iTunes No response whatsoever from Apple to the posts or a fix to iTunes Same here.
None of my apps work and iOS5 was installed prior to upgrade. When will Apple jump in and fix this? I downloaded the new itunes, backed up my iphone4 and then did the upgrade last night. It crashed during back up so I lost an up to date version of my phone and it lost all my audio and notes and things? Luckily it got all my photos etc which I did iphoto transfer before all this. Am i right in saying if a backup had errors and i lost some data when i try to sync it will only still have what it last remembered from that failed and incorrect back up?
Very frustrating. This happens to me every time I do this, but because I only do this once every 3 months it makes the iphone bearable. It scares me every time i need to do an update. The public will start purchasing other phones for this reason with the market now being so competitive. Can anyone help me please on why my itunes is crashing at the same spot every time or how to fix it? Any one else have the icons on their phone get messed up after syncing after iTunes update.
Just a big inconvenience. Any word on getting colored icons back with this version? This is very frustrating. Copy the iTunes folder to an external drive, or at least somewhere else on the PC, then use Revo Uninstaller in advanced mode. It will delete the original iTunes folder hence the copying but will give you the best chance of re-installing cleanly.
Alternatively, if using an external drive do not open iTunes or close it down then manually copy contents of the iTunes folder in the backup to the iTunes folder on the PC. Again, when iTunes is launched it will detect the music and register it for use. Any media that needs DRM activation will download the necessary files and any purchased media will need you to verify your iTunes account details. This just involves opening it and pointing to the first song … the program will ask if it can look for others.
I tried uninstalling all Apple-for-Windows applications from my PC, then cleaned up the Registry of orphan files, etc. I then went back into previous versions of iTunes and QuickTime to download and install. Up pops the same error message, which leads me to think that it must might be a Windows problem. Now the bad news — I had been trying for approximately 2 years to get Windows Update to work, finally success this past fall of It took Microsoft that long to recognize that there was a problem that needed a patch.
Have a great day. OK, Peter. Sorry to hear you and I continue to receive the same error message. I will try that tonight. He will do a complete system backup, reformat the hard drive, and then reinstall Windows, my programs, and data.
Then he will install iTunes It is very interesting to note that your message refers to the Apple technician installing x64 software, whilst your original message refers to Windows x86 i.
Naturally, one could assume this is where your problems are located. A mixture of 32 and 64 bit software often creates conflicts such as you have been experiencing. PP- I totally agree that free advice is great.
But, after spending 20 hours of frustration trying to fix the problem and ignoring my family , I finally broke down and hired a professional. And my wife agreed with my decision. Anyway, we reformatted the hard drive and installed iTunes We also eliminated a bit of garbage from the hard drive. Thanks for your comments. Marc, I too am pleased that you have had your issue resolved. My comment was seeking further information, particularly the query of 32 or 64 bit OS and associated software installation.
This was just in case anyone else came up with the same problem. Out of interest, what sort of garbage was removed and was this the cause of your problem?
Time, for all of us, is valuable including cash and family issues and a balance between them must always be achieved. Kind regards. I was unable to install Service Pack-2 because there was Arabic language on the computer. So, when we rebuilt the hard drive, we omitted the option for Arabic. I apologize to any Arabic speakers including my brother for this poor word choice. Downloads are another area where Apple is helping you to spend less time with iTunes.
First is the Automatic Downloads feature that people with iOS devices will love. The idea is simple. Subsequent purchases from the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore will automatically download to any computers and devices configured to take advantage of Automatic Downloads, regardless of where you make the purchase.
Configuring Automatic Downloads in iTunes. You can download items singly, by album or season, or—in the case of songs, apps, and books—all in one fell swoop. But we can only speculate about iTunes Match at this point: The service is slated to go live in the coming weeks.
The latest version of iTunes works hand-in-hand with iOS 5 to bring many cool new features to your iOS devices.
