Page Updated: Jan. Ibuki Animations. Following the Street Fighter 1 in , the series was lacking a traditional ninja fighter for many years. Effectiveness in series. Overall Score. Kunai, an aerial crossways dart throw, is an excellent evasion tool and a decent combo opener. In fact, most of her moves should be used with a mind to combo. Be a chess player, think about the next three or four moves and don't be afraid to get wild with Tsumuji chains or to bounce out of dodge The fight later ends when Kei and Sarai point out Elena and Makoto lost interest in all the potential futures each girl was offering in favor for Dan's C.
Wrestling Trainee Program. As a ninja, Ibuki is skilled in ninjutsu ; specifically its curriculum of martial arts. Unlike Guy, her style emphasizes a more traditional depiction, like that of ninjutsu found in the regions of Iga and Koga, utilizing kicks, grabs, speed, agility and accuracy for an aggressive and deadly approach. Somewhat interestingly, Ibuki is the only playable character who uses pure ninjutsu as others such as Vega use only elements of the art. She tends to have many multi hitting attacks.
While she generally does below average damage a player with good execution can do multiple 1 frame in a combo to match most of the cast. Her Raida tends to have unique properties, being immune to command throws in the IV series, being the only 2 frame non super special in Street Fighter X Tekken , and having anti back technical mechanics of command grabs despite it's hitbox being classified as a strike.
As a tradeoff for her advantages she has been a rather frail character throughout her Street Fighter existance. She is usually around the HP mark, less than average. Ibuki's fighting style is characterized by her speed and agility. While she may not be as strong as other characters, Ibuki's attacks hit fast, and possesses a multitude of Target Combos that give her various extensions and conversions off many stray attacks.
Though Ibuki has many options in her mixups and gameplan, they are all designed for extremely specific purposes, forcing Ibuki to vary her approach and respond to her opponents just as she would to them.
Effective Ibuki play requires full knowledge of the opponent's capabilities and quick reactions, as an incorrect response could easily lead to her taking massive damage from a punish. Her unique special attack is when she smacks her opponent in two kicks. She has the most disguise forms than the rest of the characters with a total of seven disguises Eg. Kendo student, a Japanese marker where she could paint the opponent in black, a Bushido, Traditional Japanese singer, a Japanese magician to make a tornado spin on her opponents, a penguin suit and cosplaying as Rolento.
One of her Mighty Combos has her disguise as a Bushido to slash her opponent in one strike to deal heavy damage. If her opponents are obliterated with this move an ocean wave background will be seen.
She also wears her casual outfit from one of her Street Fighter III win animations but it was a short sleeved shirt than a sleeveless shirt from her ending while meeting with Guy. In Street Fighter V , Ibuki exchanges various tools in favor of new ones altogether. Most notably, her Kunai has been changed to give her an ammunition counter, with a total of six kunai before she has to reload, though in exchange she can not only use it on the ground, but even throw all of them at once using Kunai Ikkinage.
Her V-Skills and V-Triggers utilize new techniques and tools to further mixup her opponent. Tenrai is a palm blast that lets Ibuki poke the opponent from a distance, while Makibishi gives Ibuki a trap that helps her side-switch mixups. Rokushaku Horokudama and Fuma Shuriken both work as delayed projectiles that Ibuki can use to trick her opponents, either using the former's variable fuses or the latter's returning trajectory. Her Critical Art is the Kachofugetsu as she trips her opponent with a low sweep while launching them in mid air with a straight kick similar to her Hashinsho Ultra Combo as she teleports while doing ninja hand signs to culminate a burst of blue energy on her left palm similar to her Yoroitoshi Super Art to wipe out her opponent's skull in a deadly explosion.

Default [ ] Ibuki's default outfit is 1 piece a brown ninja outfit. Ibuki's ankles are also wrapped with wrapping material. This helps stabilize her legs when moving and help protect her from ankle related injuries while in battle.
A common cause would be if she twist her ankle it helps prevent swelling. Aesthetically she also wears brown arm bands and the outfit goes all the way down to her ankles. She keeps her twin mid-thigh length ponytails secured in a hair band before they separate and go down well below her tailbone area naturally. Interestingly while this is one of the more realistic, practical, and less revealing outfits for the females of the series Ibuki still shows her hips to quite a degree.
It was shown in her comic 's "Ask Ibuki" segment she wears underwear that rides pretty high as fans were asking about if she even wears any. Second Outfit [ ] Ibuki's second outfit is her historical school girl outfit. Ibuki's undershirt can be seen here under her vest. In this outfit Ibuki wears a blue vest over a white-blue shirt. The shirt has a ribbon tied at the collar for visual effect.
She wears a separate skirt that starts at her lower waist and ends in the middle of her thighs. The distance between her vest and skirt shows a degree of her undershirt. Her shirt's sleeve length ends just before her elbows leaving her arms in full view.
In her arms she wears finger-less gloves similar to her default outfit but made more of a civilian friendly material and more matches the color scheme of her uniform. Ibuki wears high socks that match the color of the undershirt that is underneath her vest. Her shoes match the blue of her skirt and vest and have white shoelaces, white foot support, and white "H" patterns written among them. Ibuki also wears bike short underwear of matte black color under her skirt. As Ibuki performs split and high kicks this choice of underwear reveals very little in battle.
Just as her default has a hair band to keep her long ponytails together before dividing this outfit has a similar hairband for her hair. Interestingly in some media this outfit is portrayed differently than in game. In Street Fighter Unlimited "Some Wisdom" Ibuki is shown wearing her school outfit but the vest and skirt area connect to make a one piece dress.
The undershirt is shown to a much lower degree only visible in her sleeves and collar. In a certain toyline Ibuki is shown to be wearing a white 1 piece dress underneath her undershirt that ends just before her skirt ends so it isn't normally visible.
In both of these instances Ibuki's underwear also differs from the outfit's game portrayal. This outfit started the trend of Ibuki having tanuki tails in her purchasable outfits Unlike her previous two outfits Ibuki doesn't have any upper body protection of any kind.
From her shoulders to arms she has no gloves or band, leaving the area fully exposed. For her hair Ibuki uses the same usual three front bang two back ponytails that are around mid-thigh length going down. Just like her default outfit Ibuki wears a hairband to keep her twin ponytails tied together at the base before they separate. Ibuki wearing her fourth outfit.
Ibuki's backpack in this outfit is also Tanuki styled. The underwear this time are dark blue panties that provide less visual protection than the bike shorts of her school uniform. This style would be done again in her future "battle outfit" for Street Fighter V. Ibuki wears on her head a tanuki styled and colored hat with ears that separates on her shoulders to go behind her back and in front of her. She also wears a backpack with the same theme and color and theme with other designs.
Lastly this outfit also has a tanuki tail, however this time instead of being near her rump instead it is attached to a "fanny pack" she wears to hold further accessories. The tail is attached to one of the fanny pack's pouches. Unlike her other tail in her third outfit this one is more of a yellow-ish color scheme to fit more this this outfit. It is also "bushier" and bigger than the previous one.
Ibuki's jacket also has heart shaped buttons, this probably to further make this outfit the feminine complement to Makoto's more work related tomboy one. Interestingly Ibuki has a thigh strap in this outfit. The strap has a yellow heart strapped to it and on the opposite side of the strap Ibuki has Kunai attached. These Kunai have no effect in battle and are purely aesthetic in battle. What is notable is that this idea of Ibuki having Kunai strapped on her thigh would become a recurring trend for her alternate outfits in the next major game starting with her new default outfit.
In this instance the kunai are strapped to her right thigh as opposed to her left one as they would later be. Fifth Outfit [ ] Ibuki's Wild Animal outfit is based on a tanuki. Ibuki's mask is a tanuki one that covers her lower face and has ears. For further tanuki themed aesthetics Ibuki's feet and hands both are covered. Her hands have gloves over them. These gloves have fur all over them and end in the fingers with huge nails similar to a Tanuki These gloves also have wrappings around her wrist that presumably extend to her hands under the gloves but not fingers as her other gloves in different outfits tend to do.
Her feet have sandals that at the base of the foot have fut and similarly to the gloves end in tanuki themed nails. They are strapped to Ibuki's feet to ensure they do not get out of place.
Like many of her other outfits of this era Ibuki has a tanuki tail on her rump over her pants, this tail is arguably the most in-place compared to the other ones. The tail in this outfit is even larger than the one in her previous one and keep a similar dark brown color scheme to the rest of the outfit. Interestingly this tail has a giant red ribbon tied to the base, this is the same as her pet tanuki Don-Chan.
Ibuki's leg has fake claw marks The overall color scheme for this outfit is white and red. The back of Ibuki's dress. This hairstyle, while similar to her usual one, is unique to this outfit. Interestingly while keeping the same twin ponytail three bang hairstyle Ibuki is known for this outfit gives it a twist that at the time was arguably the most unique only in contention with her SFXT alternate that weaved her ponytails using even more of her own natural hair.
This outfit separates her twin ponytails at the base of her head. Meaning while she still has the same overall hairstyle the ponytails are banded separately this time. Both bands are the same red shade as the red details of the outfit.
Swap [ ] Ibuki's swap outfit is based on Yoshimitsu's Tekken 2 appearance. Capcom's official outfit description She also wears gloves that cover her hands better but still end at her fingers.
Both the gloves and her arms have purple bands similar to the brown ones of her default but bigger. She also wears around her head a purple cloth that also extends to her back, giving her a cape of sorts. In battle Ibuki also has a purple mask on. Like Yoshimitsu she also wears a massive hat even bigger than his that has scrolls on one side with Japanese writing but the hat has cuts in the front and back to make space for her bangs in the front of her head and her ponytails behind said head.
As stated in Capcom's official description for the outfit, Ibuki attached a tanuki tail to the rump of her outfit as a reminder of her pet tanuki Don-Chan. In this outfit Ibuki adorns her hair with two natural roses. As further tradition for females wearing a festive kimono for an occasion Ibuki also adorns her hair with two natural roses.
This is just for aesthetics. Ibuki also has an "X" on her cheek while wearing this outfit, for unstated reasons. In the rump of the outfit a tanuki is printed alongside the nature patterns and print. This fits with Ibuki's animal motifs of tanuki and how Capcom often adds these aesthetics with Ibuki's alternate outfits one way or another. Ibuki's SFV default is an armorized version of her schoolgirl outfit. Default [ ] Ibuki for the first time has a different default outfit in SFV that combines her schoolgirl public image with her secret ninja one.
Over that she has gloves that are thicker than her historical brown default and are sort of a hybrid between said outfit and her SFXT swap gloves in terms of thickness using visual ques from both.
As for tradition for her default outfits she wears a mask that covers the lower half of her face. Her legs have blue wrapping and brown protective leather looking armor to presumably defend the area. Under her skirt she wears "spat" style dark blue underwear and just where her skirt ends she has visible.
For her hair she has a red hairband knotting her twin ponytails just like with her historical default outfit before they divide. Story [ ] Ibuki's story mode outfit is a white dress she wore to Karin's party. A view of Ibuki's purse Unlike many other of her outfits Ibuki doesn't have any leg, arm, or hand guards and they are all mostly exposed. A picture showing another angle of Ibuki's purse and it's strap. Ibuki appears in this dress in the Back To School Special comic.
Off camera she switches to her ninja outfit to fight Zaki with not even Zaki knowing when Ibuki switched clothing. Battle Outfit [ ] Ibuki's battle outfit is a more feminine ninja outfit than her historical brown default. View of Ibuki's ribbon and sword. A frequent comment about this specific outfit is the fact that it makes Ibuki look even younger while she is wearing it, many people owing it to her new hairstyle. This is something even Capcom themselves admitted in their website in the comments about the outfit.
Ibuki's name is written on her chest. This outfit can also be considered an antithesis to all other swimsuits. Every female character received a swimsuit for fanservice by Capcom but Ibuki's is easily the most "covered up".
As this kind of swimsuit is usually given to "cutesy" females it is usually more covered up than other swimsuits female characters get. Ibuki's however adds ninja gear covering a good portion of her legs and arms making this outfit less revealing ironically than a good amount of her other outfits and even the regular outfits of other characters male and female. Alternate [ ] Ibuki's alternate version removes the red cape from her back. The alternate version removes the cape. This actually started two trends for Ibuki that would follow in other outfits, the first being that similar to the tanuki tail often given to her in the previous games in this era Ibuki frequently receives capes in her outfits.
These capes are often the removable part of her outfits usually removing her mask as well in other outfits. With the removal of her cape this swimsuit becomes a little more fan service friendly as it reveals her upper back and gives an unobstructed view of her hips without the cape covering.
School Outfit [ ] Ibuki wearing her school girl outfit. Ibuki's gloves and hairband on display. Alternate [ ] The alternate version removes Ibuki's scarf and cape. Ibuki's hidden version of this outfit removes the cape, similarly to her swimsuit, and scarf. This more easily exposes her "scruf" that includes a free hanging flap that moves up and down as she battles.
This version also reveals more of the cloth Ibuki uses to cover her face, keeping her warm similar to the scarf but arguably less effective than the scarf would be at warming the area.
Everything else remains just the same as the regular caped version. Sporty Outfit [ ] Ibuki's sporty outfit is based on a female track runner outfit. Ibuki's race information and identification is written on her shirt. Ibuki wears accessories on her wrist, as shown in this picture.
The details of Ibuki's fit bit always stay the same, including the time. Ibuki's shorts like many other parts of the outfit have kunai printed on them. Ibuki's shoes have more details than the rest of her footwear in this outfit. Alternate [ ] Ibuki in her alternate sporty outfit. The alternate version removes both Ibuki's mask and cape. As she is missing the cape more of her upper back and shoulders are exposed in this outfit.
This is the first alternate outfit that removes both the cape and mask as all the previous ones would only remove her cape. As Ibuki is missing two major accessories this is technically Ibuki's most revealing outfit in any game.
Although like the base version while looking bikini-like it is still a standard issue female track runner outfit still arguably on the skimpy side like the default. Sakura calling Ibuki Ibuki seems to have begun a friendship with Sakura, based on their rival match in SSFIV and their similar background as high school fighters interested in boys or at least a particular boy , in Sakura's case.
